Day 1: Urumqi - Kashgar
After arriving in Urumqi, take the connecting flight to Kashgar. Our guide and driver will meet you at Kashgar airport and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city. You can have a rest in your hotel or get to experience local customs and taste abundant Xinjiang delicacies. Stay overnight in Qinibagh Hotel or similar.
Day 2: Kashgar - Urumqi
After breakfast, pick you up at hotel and then do the full day tour in Kashgar. Your first stop is Apak Hoja Mausoleum (about 1.5 hours visiting), which is at the northeast suburbs of Kashgar at Hanhao Villages, around 5 kilometers away form the city. The environment in that area is tranquil and beautiful with lush green vegetation, dense forest. The grand tomb is heavily sheltered by the ancient poplar trees which grow around the mausoleum. The tomb served as the family tomb of Abakh Khoja, the powerful ruler of Kashgar in the 17th century who was revered as a prophet and second only to Mohammed. It was first built in 1640 and contained 72 members belonging 5 generations of the family. Emperor Qianlong's favored concubine-Xianggei(fragrant Concubine) was also said to be buried here. The tomb is otherwise called Xiangfei Tomb.
After that, You will go to see the Livestock market where you can feel the local traditional market culture. every deal is not done without a Salachi who is a person helps buyer and seller reach an agreement following the correct rules, Usually they are respected and elder members of the community.
The following stop is the Id Kah Mosque . The magnificent Islamic building of the mosque is located in the city center of Kashgar with an history of more than five hundred years since the ruler of Kashgar initiated the construction in 1442. Occupying an area of 16,800 square meters, there are thousands of pious Muslims coming to pray, especially in Friday.
After taking the typical delicious Uighur foods as lunch, you will go to the famous Sunday Bazaar, which is very famous in Kashgar, when thousands of people descend upon the city from all around the region and even from neighboring countries to sell anything and everything under the sun. It is a lot of fun just wandering around looking at the stuff for sale and watching the multicultural crowd haggle over prices. There is produce, kitchenware, jewelry, spices, electronics, shoes, clothes, meat, and everything else. Afterwards, have a walk on a long cultural street with many handcraft experts which give you a great opportunity to understand how to make Baby cradle, traditional musical instruments, traditional knives, teapots, golden jewelers, wooden steamers and many others traditional tools of local people.
We will arrange your dinner in a local family near by village, which will let you well know the Uyghur culture and life.
After that, take evening flight to Urumqi. Stay overnight in Xijiang Grand Hotel or similar.
Day 3: Urumqi - Turpan
After breakfast, pick you up at your hotel and drive to Turpan(about 2.5 hours). When arrive, check in the Oasis hotel or similar. And then drive to visit Grape valley. With its shady vineyards and trees, it provides a welcome place of relaxation amidst the hundreds of square miles of sand. You may take a seat under the vintage frames, savor various grapes, enjoy the beautiful Uyghur girls in their ornate costumes, and be fully intoxicated by this refreshing palace of grapes. Taking a walk along the grape corridor, you will find drying rooms on nearby slopes. Every year over 300 tons of raisins are made here.
After lunch, go to Yarghul Ancient city (Jiaohe Ruins) which was established by the Chinese as a garrison town. It is one of the world's largest (6500 residents lived here), oldest, and best-preserved ancient cities. A main road cuts through th city; at the end is a large monastery with Buddhist figures still visible.
After walking through the old streets and along the roads, drive to your next stop - Karez well, which is is located at the Ya'er country in Turpan city, 3 kilometers away from the city urban, and 2 kilometers away from the 312 national highway in the south. This irrigation system of wells connected by underground channels is considered to be one of the three great ancient projects in China with the other two being the Great Wall and the Grand Canal.
Afterwards, go to Suleiiman Minaret, also known as Emin Minaret or Sugong Ta. The minaret, 44 meters high with a base diameter of 10 meters, was built in the 1770s by Prince Suleiman in honour of his father Prince Emin Khoja. Flanked by a mosque with exquisite interior solid wooden structures and articulate designs one can only expect from Islamic craftsmen, the minaret located a mere two kilometers east of Turpan is a must see attraction. Its 15 simple brick motifs including flowers and waves leap from the structure. The azure sky and lush green of the grape fields outside provide a wondrous photo backdrop.
In the evening, you can enjoy the local folk dancing and singing under the grape valley.
Day 4: Turpan - Urumqi
Start your wonderful trip in the morning. Today, your first stop is Gaochang (Khocho) Ruins, which is the largest city ruins in west China. The site is located 40 kilometers from the Turpan City, at the north bank of the Aiding Lake and to the south of the Flaming Mountain. It was listed as the National key cultural unit in 1961. Gaochang was an ancient city with a history of over 1300 years and it was destroyed in the war. The city saw frequent changes of dynasties in hundreds of years. The ruins cover around 2.2 million square meters, containing the outer and inner cities. The layout of the city is similar to that of Chang'an, capital of Tang Dynasty at that time. The outer wall is the only visible structure left today. Some parts are well-preserved.
After that , you will drive to Bezeklik Caves. It is at the Mutou Valley of the Flaming Mountain. There were originally hundreds of such caves. Unfortunately this area is highly exposed to natural erosion, which have severely damaged quite a few of them. Now there are 83 caves in good condition 50 percent of which are decorated with murals. The total murals find here reach up to 1,200 square meters.
Then, your next stop is Tuyoq village. It sets in a green valley fringed by the Flaming Mountains, this tiny grape-producing village is an excellent place to explore traditional Uighur life and architecture. When finish it, drive back to Urumqi. Stay overnight in Xinjing Grand Hotel or similar.
Day 5: Urumqi - Next destination
