Miao Nationality Drum Tower
In Shangzhai, Jiubai Viliage of Paiyang Town, 20 kilometers away from Taijiang County, there stand groups of drum towers. Beside the tower stand various old trees, juicy and verdant. The wooden tower is 11 meters tall, occupying 52 square kilometers, supported by a sole pillar in the center and other 16 smaller pillars around. It is really a miracle that the whole drum tower is not built with a tiny nail or rivet. However, it is stable and firm and experienced hundreds of years. In the tower floor, there is a 23-centimeter wide drum, which is only used during the sacrifice ceremony. These drum towers are the only existed Miao Nationality drum towers.
