Wayan Mountain of Qinghai Haibei
When you get out of Gangca Temple, walking 20 kilometers to the north, you will reach the food of Wayan Mountain. Wayan Mountain belongs to Datong Ranges of Qilian Mountain System. It is a single mountain with an altitude of 4517 meters above the sea level. As the body of the mountain looks like the Pyramid in Egypt, local people praised Wayan Mountain to be the pyramid of Gangca. There is snow on the peak of the mountain all year round and the mountain is surrounded by clouds and fog. On the foot of the mountain, grass is green and water is clean. Therefore, the mountain has another beautiful name called 'Golden Grass Mountain'. 'Armi Wayan' is a world combined by Tibetan and Mongolian, which means rich grandfather. 'Armi' means grandfather or elder in Tibetan and 'Wayan' means rich in Mongolian.
In the area of Wayan Mountain, there are abundant resources of plants and animals. In here, you can find valuable spring-grass and some economic medical plants, such as the snow lotus. There are also many wild animals here, for example the snow cock, Mongolian gazelle and brown bear. Walk 30 kilometers further, you will arrive at Longdong-Tianchi (in Chinese, it means dragon cave and heavenly pond). It is situated 4284 meters above the sea level and the legend told us that our ancestors used to see a dragon going up into the heaven from the heavenly pond at this place. In Tibetan, it is called Zhou Cave and 'zhou' means dragon. There is another legend said the heavenly pond was made by the following mirror of Queen Mother of the West (a mythological figure).
